British Airways will offer free fast in-flight wifi through space-based deal

Travelers aboard the airline can soon use quick internet onboard at no cost after a new agreement from SpaceX's space firm.

Free and High-speed Wifi for All

The carrier stated that the complimentary, “reliable and lightning-fast” connectivity offering through SpaceX is set to be offered to passengers in coach, business, or premium cabins as of the coming month.

Widespread Implementation Over Several Carriers

The umbrella organization of BA, IAG, stated it had secured an agreement involving the satellite firm to offer wifi services on more than 500 aircraft operated by the group's carriers, which also include the Irish airline, the Spanish carrier, plus Vueling.

Smooth Internet starting at Gate through Landing

British Airways explained that the implementation of the service formed part of a seven billion pound “transformation” program that will offer smooth wifi coverage to travelers starting at the gate through landing, including when traveling above oceans or remote regions.

Travelers will be able to connect several gadgets while won't need to have to use a special password.

Revolutionary for us as well as travelers, improving the journey in the air our flights by giving them seamless wifi throughout the flight.”

Present Connectivity Offerings

Restricted internet access is presently offered to British Airways passengers through nearly all of their jets through the .air platform.

Participants of BA’s loyalty club are able to send messages plus plain-text emails during flights at no cost, whereas travelers wishing to access music, video, or movies on the journey who are not flying in business or first might be charged between four pounds ninety-nine to twenty-one pounds ninety-nine for a wifi plan.

Starlink’s Infrastructure

SpaceX maintains a network of thousands with satellites and is managed by Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

Recent Improvements for British Airways

BA's executive team has been working to revitalize British Airways around after a period with financial constraints, IT problems, strikes, and staff cuts.

British Airways noted that use of AI contributed to the airline to achieve its on-time performance at the best levels since 2012.

Earnings Performance

Earlier this year, the carrier disclosed a rise for financial performance during the first half of this year, contributing to IAG’s profit higher.

International Airlines Group is set to release its earnings for Q3 recently on Friday.

Other Satellite Deals

The airline's news comes shortly following mobile phone provider Virgin Media O2 said it was partnering alongside the satellite provider to enhance wireless connectivity in rural parts across the United Kingdom, enabling users to easily hook up mobile devices via orbiting devices if there is no regular network coverage is available.
