On Friday, Pam Bondi appointed Jay Clayton to oversee an investigation into political adversaries of Donald Trump and their relationships with Jeffrey Epstein. This decision came hours after Trump directed her to begin the probe.
During an announcement, the Attorney General commended Clayton as “a highly skilled and reliable legal expert”. The official added, “The department will handle this matter promptly and thoroughly to provide clarity for citizens.”
This development appears to contradict a recent memorandum from federal authorities which declared that the Epstein files lacked grounds for additional investigations. As per the document, authorities “found no proof justifying probes into uncharged individuals”
